Ethiopia: The Truth Behind the Shortage of Edible Oil

Ethiopia's trade as well as marketing system are witnessing admirable and encouraging progress from time to time. Particularly, this change has to go along with the ever modernizing market system in the world apart from protecting the interests of consumers. The past consecutive years had manifested this shift. For instance, a number of consumers' right protection proclamations and other measures have contributed to this change. To this end, Proclamation No. 686/2010 commercial registration and business licensing_ and Proclamation No. 685/2010 Trade Practice and Consumers' trade practice are best examples.

This proclamations were promulgated four years ago. Ministry of Trade is put in charge of executing the first proclamation. However, beside structuring a hassle- full marketing system through organizing a new system, it is dutiable to check the system has brought transparent marketing system. This is due to the fact that there are still corrupt businessmen that hide in the cloak of innocence and complicate the marketing system.
