Malawi: Primary School Teachers in Mzimba Down Tools Over Leave Grants

Mzimba — Despite Government having released MK2.4 billion to settle leave grants for primary school teachers in the country, teachers from 30 schools in Mzimba have downed their tools, to 'force' government to honour their 2013/2014 leave grants.

Assistant Coordinating Primary Education Advisor (PEA) for Kazingilira Zone, Overton Nyirenda, confirmed to Malawi News Agency (Mana) that teachers from about 30 schools are on a sit- in to force education authorities to pay them their leave grants.
