Liberia's Redlight District Burns - Bikers Set Police Depot Ablaze

Normal business activities in the commercial district of Redlight, in Paynesville and its adjacent parts came to a halt on Thursday when a group of motorcyclists went on the rampage setting the Police station in the area on fire. Firefighters fought frantically to salvage what was left of the Police station, pouring water as the flames ravaged the Police station. Eyewitnesses attributed the fire to petrol bomb thrown into the Police station by angry youths, mainly motorcyclists, but Police sources in the area are yet to say what actually causes the fire.

"It is the motorcyclists that brought such a calamity. We never expected such. We saw them running to us, but we did not have enough manpower, that is how they ran into us and we only tried to protect ourselves and at last, we saw a fire blazing," said Isaac King Williams, a man claiming to be a Police officer but was wearing plain clothes.
