Africa: Xenophobia - Nigerian Envoys to South Africa Not Recalled, Says FG

Abuja — The Federal Government has said that it did not recalled its envoys from South Africa over the xenophobic attacks but only summoned them for routine consultations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, on Monday said that the statement earlier issued by his ministry was a summon for routine consultations with the acting High Commissioner of Nigeria to South Africa and the Consul General in Johannesburg, over the xenophobic attacks on foreigners, including Nigerians, in South Africa, which he noted remained a usual practice in the conduct of diplomacy.
