East Africa: A Meeting On EU-Horn of Africa Migration At Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt

A meeting of The EU-Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative Committee was held last week (23-24 April) in Sharm El Sheikh. Representatives from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, and Malta as well as from the EU and Au Commissions were present and from Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea and South Sudan.

The meeting also included a number of international organizations, including the United Nations, UNHCR, the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The meeting discussed the development of projects designed to implement the Rome Declaration of combating smuggling of migrants and human trafficking in the Horn of Africa.
