Sierra Leone: As Quarantined Residents Disarm Soldierco Bans Periodic Market in Kambia

Commanding Officer (CO) of the military battalion in Kambia District, Lieutenant Colonel Briwa Conteh, has banned the weekly periodic 'luma' market at Barmoi town in the Kambia district after some quarantined residents disarmed a soldier who was deployed to guard their residence.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Conteh, Kambia district continues to record new Ebola cases because of recalcitrance by some residence, adding that most of the cases were coming from Barmoi and the Gbalamuya border post, with both localities hosting weekly 'lumas'.
