Mozambique: Unanimity on Need to Reform Criminal Investigation

Maputo — Mozambican Attorney-General Beatriz Buchili on Thursday welcomed the unanimity among the parliamentary political parties that the Criminal Investigation Police (PIC) must be reformed.

Both of the opposition parties, the former rebel movement Renamo and the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), have long argued that it is inappropriate for PIC to be under the General Command of the Mozambican police force, and hence subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior.
