Maputo — The severe flooding which hit the central Mozambican province of Zambezia earlier this year affected 29,963 households, containing a total of 150,849 people, according to statistics provided to AIM by the country's relief agency, the National Disaster Management Institute (INGC).
Maria Luciano, the INGC Zambezia provincial delegate, told AIM that these figures include 10,478 households (52,188 people) who were forced out of their original homes and are currently living in resettlement areas.
