Nigeria: Why We Patronise Traditional Birth Attendants - Kuje Women

Women of Gbetu Pmapyi, a community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have said that distance of healthcare centres to their community and lack of good road have forced them to patronise traditional birth attendants to give birth.

The community secretary, Sunday Kaura, who spoke on behalf of the village head, said the women in the community faced difficulties while dealing with their health issues due to lack of hospital. Most of them, he noted, have turned themselves to local midwives without learning the skill.
