An enumeration of street connected children done by Retrak in partnership with Chisomo Children's club has indicated that the country's capital city, Lilongwe has the highest number of street children with an estimation of 87 percent followed by Blantyre with 82 percent.
Director of International affairs at Retrak Maggie Crewes explained that the survey was done to provide an estimate of number of children living and working on the streets of Blantyre and Lilongwe in order to inform the government on their strategy for street children and direct work with children.
