Uganda's Pupils Still Can't Read, Write - Uwezo Report

Since the first Uwezo report came out in 2011, Ugandan pupils' performance has only served to increase the number of wrinkles on the faces of observers of our education sector. Last week the latest one was no better. As MOSES TALEMWA found, Uganda's pupils have failed to get out of last place, once again.

When the first Uwezo report was released in 2011, there was concern about the learning abilities of Ugandan pupils in lower primary. According to the findings then, only three out of 10 pupils in Uganda in P3 and P4 could read and understand a story. And two out of 10 pupils in P6 and P7 could not read and understand a P2 test.
