Kenya: Police, Courts Ordered Not to Hold Traffic Offenders in Custody

New rules on traffic offense cases state that offenders punishable by fine or imprisonment for at most six months will not be held in police custody.

They will be "expeditiously" released on bail or bond pending charges, read a joint statement by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and IG Joseph Boinett.
