Lagos — Airlines in Nigeria spend about $500,000 (about N99. 4million) to carry out heavy maintenance such as C check on one aircraft overseas every 18 months. Such huge funds should have been retained to create jobs for the teeming aviation professionals if an aircraft maintenance centre was set up in Nigeria.
Chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, called on the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)to review the mandatory 18 months timeline given Airline operators to carry out C- check on all aircraft operating in Nigeria . He said the rule was due for review and that NCAA has to do something about it.
