Namibia: Battle Over Bukalo's Status Continues

TWO years after government officially registered a village council in the Bukalo settlement in Zambezi region, a number of residents are still fighting to have it re-classified as a royal establishment, fearing a loss of their culture, identity and history.

Despite this resistance, government says it is marching ahead with plans to bring civilisation to the small settlement, indicating it has already invested so much in upgrading its status from settlement to village council.
