Every year on 16 June, we celebrate the Day of the African Child. It is an international celebration and each year a theme is selected. This year, it has been decided to focus on efforts to advocate for the end of child marriages.
But what is a child marriage? It is the formal marriage or informal union entered into by an individual before reaching the age of 18. It traditionally happens in some of our cultures.
