South Africa: Nemato Police Recovered Solar Panels, Suspect Arrested

King William's Town — Nemato police recovered six solar panels in separate incidents in the past week and a 27-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested yesterday on charges of possession of suspected stolen property. He will appear in the Port Alfred Magistrate's Court soon.

The bust in New Rest Informal Settlement came after Warrant Officers Albert Doyi and Joseph Marais followed up on information received from members of the community. It is alleged that community members were using the panels for lighting and cooking purposes while others connected them to their radios and TVs via a car battery.
