Western Sahara: President of Republic Calls UN to Intervene for Release of Salah Lebsir

Birlehlu — The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, called on the United Nations to urgently intervene to free the Saharawi activist Salah Lebsir and all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons.

"We call on the UN to assume its full responsibility to ensure the safety and protection of the rights of Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories, and create an effective UN mechanism to monitor and report violations of human rights in Western Sahara and intervene for the release of Salah Lebsir and all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons," wrote the President of the Republic in a letter to the UN Secretary General, Ban-ki-Moon.
