Gambia: Three Sentenced for Cutting Trees

The Nianija district tribunal, presided over by chief Alh. Alasan David Cham last Wednesday, June 17 2015, convicted and sentenced two people: Ebrima Jang Jallow and Ebrima Kaba of Wellingara village after they were found guilty of entering Khahi Batti Forest park and illegally cutting down seventeen 'Keno' or Wen trees.

According to the particulars of the offence, the duo on or about the 25th May 2015 entered into Khahi Batti Forest park without permission and cut down seventeen 'Keno' trees and thereby committed an offence.
