THE remuneration of non-executive directors is a topical issue in Zimbabwe due to the non-performance of most companies. Underpaying non-executive directors can lead to low engagement which may reduce the commitment of the non-executive directors to driving the strategy of the business.
On the side of caution, excessively rewarding non-executive directors will attract the attention of other company stakeholders and can lead to bad publicity.
