Malawi: Despite Calls to Legalise Chamba, People Continue to Be Arrested

In-spite of calls which were ignited by a legislator in parliament last month for government to consider legalizing marijuana, locally known as Chamba, police keep on nailing down lots of people either possessing it in large quantities.

When reacting to the report of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises tabled in Parliament yesterday, Malawi Congress Party (MCP), lawmaker for Ntchisi North, Boniface Kadzamira, said Chamba (marijuana) is a viable alternative that can help drive in forex into Malawi.
