Stories of the rough journey it took to get to the airwaves on June 22, 1996, were still fresh in the minds of the directors of Buganda's Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) radio station as it celebrated its 19th anniversary last Monday.
Until 2009 when the radio was switched off at the height of the Buganda riots, June 22 was always celebrated with pomp, with Ekitoobero musical show winning a fixed date on Uganda's entertainment calendar. For three years now, the radio has been marking its anniversary in a different way - with an exhibition intended to economically empower its listeners.
