Ethiopia: 'Unacceptable!'

Leaders of the Ethiopian Federal Democratic Unity Forum (Medrek), one of the main opposition parties which took part in the general election on May 24 but rejected the preliminary result of the election announced by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE),

has also rejected the final result of the election and said that the election was conducted in an environment where the constitution and other legal procedures concerning the election were violated. The party disclosed this in a press conference that was held yesterday at its headquarters located off Weatherall Street around the Addis Ababa University main campus. Following the announcement of the preliminary result by the board, it can be recalled that the party has called for the establishment of an independent body of inquiry to investigate the breaches of rules and laws regarding the election. In its latest press briefing, the party made another request for the establishment of such a body and also that the slayers of its four members be brought to justice.
