Africa: UNAIDS Board Reiterates the Importance of Accelerating the Pace of the Aids Response to End the Epidemic By 2030

Geneva — The 36th meeting of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board has concluded its three-day meeting in Geneva. The Board's discussions focused on the AIDS response in the post-2015 development agenda and on updating and extending the UNAIDS Strategy for the period between 2016 and 2021.

The Board stressed the value of lessons learned from the global AIDS response as the international community transitions from the Millennium Development Goals to the sustainable development goals. The Board also highlighted the importance of updating and extending the current UNAIDS strategic directions to accelerate investment and action in the next five years with a view to ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
