Liberianization Snafu - Gov't Idle As Foreign Firm Grabs U.S.$3 Million Deal

Monrovia — Members of the Caterers Association of Liberia are irate over the recent signing of a US$3 million dollar contract with the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), Joint Venture of Pan African Engineering Group, Sigma Group Inc., and Mamba Point Hotel (collectively PSM-JV), for Contract #5 of the Mount Coffee Hydropower Rehabilitation Project.

According to the Project Implementation Unit which is said to be responsible for the project, Contract #5 is for Camp Construction Works and Provision of Camp Services. "Pan African Engineering Group is a wholly Liberian owned and registered architectural and engineering consulting firm. Sigma Group is a Liberia-based construction and construction materials manufacturing firm, and Mamba Point Hotel is a Liberia-based hospitality, food and catering company."
