analysis

The impact of climate change is being clearly witnessed both in urban and rural communities as it is becoming inevitable following the irresponsible gesture of individuals to preserve their environment. True, though hopes are rising, everyone doesn't care about giving due attention to environment. Besides, the traditional ecological knowledge applied by local people is much more exacerbating the effect of global warming. Scientific data on environment, health and climate is provided where available with a view to describing changes that are occurring so as to help in the development of adaptive strategies that encourage community health and resilience.

This piece tries to describe an assessment of climate change related health effects in Ethiopia particularly in the rural parts predominantly of the North. Residents of Korem, Tigray State, Ethiopia talk about changes in the timing of the seasons, weather, land, and river conditions. Potential health effects include injury related to unusual travel conditions, damage to health infrastructure related to erosion and permafrost thaw and food insecurity related to changes in wildlife health and harvest success are being widely talked about.
