Liberia: 'Our Children Will Handle Our Problems' Butaw Hails Teahjay's Intervention in GVL Issue

Citizens of Butaw Statutory District in Sinoe County have said that outsiders pushing for intervention into present industrial crisis involving residents of the district and the Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) are opting for political relevance at the expense of the county and its people. During a mass meeting of the people of Sinoe in Butaw and stakeholders co-chaired by Senator J. Milton Teahjay and some senior citizens, the people of Sinoe also expressed confidence that the recent disagreement between them and the palm company operating in their district, Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL), can be resolved by lawmakers and sons and daughters of the county, and does not require the interventions of those they referred to as “intruders”.

Although the people of Butaw did not make direct reference of those referred to as intruders longing to intervene in Butaw Conflict, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) recently announced a delegation headed by Montserrado County Senator George Manneh Weah who is expected to convene a peace meeting in Butaw to resolve outstanding conflicts, especially between residents of the District and the GVL.
