Dr. Gemedo Dalle was born and grew up in Arsi-Negelle. He attended primary and secondary school there before he went to Addis Ababa University for his first degree from the department of Biology. He had served for four years in various sectors before he once again joined the same department for his second degree. He did his PhD from a German university. He is currently working as Director General of the Ethiopian Institute of Biodiversity. The Ethiopian Herald has an interview with him on issues related to biodiversity and other related matters.
