The deployment of the National Intervention Unit in Maphumulo, Msinga and surrounding areas, continues to yield positive results. Members of the unit were deployed in the area following information of illegal firearms and inter-group conflict.
On 21 July 2015, the team recovered four AK47 rifles and a pistol with six live rounds of ammunition in Pomeroy. The firearms were found abandoned and were handed in at the police station.
