Algeria: Messahel - Counterterrorism Requires Fight Against Xenophobia, Islamophobia

Algiers — The fight against extremism and terrorism requires a struggle against xenophobia and Islamophobia, said Wednesday in Algiers Minister of Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel.

"The struggle against violent extremism and terrorism must also include the fight against xenophobia and Islamophobia, which are emerging as the new faces of violent extremism," Messahel said in a speech at the opening of an international conference on the fight against violent extremism and de-radicalization.
