Uganda: Mbabazi Meets NRM, Maintains 2016 Bid

Kampala — Former prime minister Amama Mbabazi maintained his position to carry the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party's flag in the 2016 presidential elections as he interfaced with a five-member sub-committee of the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC) on Friday.

The meeting at State House Entebbe, chaired by President Museveni and attended by Soroti Municipality MP Mike Mukula, Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza, NRM vice chcairman Moses Kigongo and Luweero NRM chairman Abdul Nadduli, was set up to dialogue with the party's top leaders, who have decided to challenge the leadership of President Museveni instead of subjecting them to disciplinary action.
