Nigeria: Towards Efficient Energy Market - Kaduna Electric Takes the Lead

Indeed, the visit last week by the Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric, Engr. Garba Haruna and top Executives of the company to Kaduna Refining and Petro chemical Company (KRPC) and Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria (PAN) could not have been more welcoming. Nigerians, obviously dissatisfied with the manifest failure of the now defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and later Power Holding Company Nigeria (PHCN) to provide qualitative and stable power supply over the years, yearned for changes.

They supported the privatization processes of the power sector from the beginning to the end for one simple reason: They want a utility company that will drive home the socio economic aspiration of the nation; a utility company that will serve as the catalyst to propel the industrialization and economic transformation of the country; a utility company that will support small businesses, artisans, medium and large scale industrial outfits.
