Liberia: Scandalous Legislature - U.S.$100 K for LIS Renovation Missing

Monrovia — The corridors of the national legislature in Liberia are buzzing over the mystery surrounding why some one hundred thousand United States dollars (US$100,000) disbursed by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the national legislature for renovation work on the burned-legislative information service (LIS) office has gone missing.

According to sources from both the Finance Ministry and the legislature, the two Houses (Senate and Representatives) received fifty percent each of the hundred thousand to be used for the renovation of the burned office of the LIS. However, authorities have been unable to account for the money which has reportedly gone missing.
