Machakos — Reigning volleyball champions Kwanthanze Girls beat 21-time national winners Lugulu 3-1 in a closely fought preliminary match at Machakos Boys High School yesterday.
Kwanthanze won the first set 25-23 as Lugulu took the competition to the next level with 25-22 victory in the second. The third set was tightly contested but the Metropolitan representatives romped to a tight 25-23 win. The fourth and final set was full of tension with the referees put in the spotlight as each point was crucial to both lineups.
