Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has definitely met his match in Malawi President Peter Mutharika whose recent prophecy has come to pass.

The new list of Africa's top Universities that was released by the world renown Times Higher Education has left out all Malawian Universities in the ranking.

The ranking has seen South African and Egyptian Universities dominate due to their vibrant research culture which Mutharika had encouraged among University of Malawi lecturers before he faced a humiliating criticism from the University lecturers.

Efforts at clarifying the President's statement at the time it was made were further frustrated by the University dons who did not want to hear any advice from the University Chancellor who has an enviable record as a University Professor in Africa and abroad.

In other rankings that are produced by less credible sources the University of Malawi has been the only Malawi's flag carrier in the top 100 ranking at position 99 while other Universities in the country completely remain unrecognised.

Education levels in the country have continued to dwindle with the inception of the democratic government which saw to it that examinations can be accessed by people before writing as well as some rich people buying places in the Universities.
