A total of 43 children of fishermen have been awarded scholarships for the cohort 2015 from the Fishermen Welfare Fund. A ceremony was held yesterday at the Mauritius Maritime Training Academy in Pointe aux Sables where each awardee was given a certificate and a stipend cheque for a period of six months.
Twenty-six scholarships were awarded for Post CPE students studying from Form I to Form V and 17 for Post SC students studying Lower six. The Post CPE students are to receive a stipend of Rs 375 per month while those in Lower Six a sum of Rs 750 monthly.
