South Africa: Two Suspects Arrested for Possession of Hijacked Vehicle

Yesterday at 10:00, police attached to Delft SAPS were conducting crime prevention operations when they spotted a suspicious VW Polo in Palm Street, Delft South with four occupants. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspects fled at high speed, ignoring the blaring siren.

The police cornered the vehicle in Palm Street after which the suspects jumped out and police gave chase. At one stage one suspect drew a firearm and attempted to shoot at the police, who returned fire; it is suspected that the firearm jammed as the suspect fled the scene.
