Ethiopia: New Year - Time to Renew Commitment for Development

Our country Ethiopia is preparing to welcome its new year (2008 E.C) with a renewed spirit of great hope and firm commitment to sustain and further accelerate the ongoing encouraging development activities across the nation. The outgoing year (2007 E.C) has indeed been a successful year for Ethiopia in various fields of development. It was recently that we Ethiopians heard with pride and joy that Ethiopia has been placed the 1st of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world. This indeed is pleasant news to all Ethiopians, who have been eagerly waiting and practically working in unison to ensure the inevitable renaissance of Ethiopia.

According to a confirmation given by several international and continental financial institutions including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ethiopia's economy grew by 10.3% over the past year making the country the first of Africa's top performing economies and this strong growth is expected to continue in 2015 and 2016.
