Ghana: Probe NPP Claims - Peace Council Tells EC

Following the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) damning revelations that the national voters' register had as many as 76, 289 Togolese names on it, and that a new voters register has to be put in place, the National Peace Council has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to seriously investigate the allegations.

Failure to address these claims by the NPP, the Council warned, might spell doom for the country before, during and after the 2016 general elections. According to the Council, it was important that the EC convenes a stakeholders' meeting to deliberate on the best way to solve the credibility issue that, the current voters' register is facing following the NPP's expose'.
