Gambia: VP Presides Over FAO Award Celebration 'Bantaba' in Kanilai

The vice president and minister of Women's Affairs, Her Excellency Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, on Friday, August 28th, presided over the opening of a daylong interactive 'Bantaba' forum, organised as part of events marking the celebration of the country's second FAO Award.

The Award, which was conferred on The Gambia by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, was in recognition of efforts made by the country in reversing the trend of malnutrition and undernourishment to less than 5% in 2015 and the MDG 1c target of reducing the prevalence of undernourishment. It came during the 39th session of FAO conference held on June 9, 2015, in Rome, Italy.
