Bauchi — It is always a cause for joy when a woman successfully puts to bed after nine months or so of pregnancy. The joy is greater if the delivery comes without any problem and the baby is found to be healthy, normal and without any defect. Unfortunately this was not the case for 20-year-old Blessing Samson, an indigene of Lussa in Bogoro Local Government Area.
On July 4, 2015, Blessing delivered a baby boy who has since been christened Chongfilawos. The problem is that the baby was born with a defect of not having what can be considered as normal hands. What could pass as hands are three fingers jutting out from a shortened arm. Even though the young mother was initially puzzled by this deformity in her child, she has since come to terms with the reality that the situation cannot be changed.
