AUC to partner Africa Investor on Women's Empowerment Leaders' Roundtable at UN General Assembly in New York

Africa investor (Ai), a leading international investment and communications group, today announced that, in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), it will engage business leaders in a high-level dialogue on women’s empowerment in Africa at the Ai CEO Investment Summit on the 24th of September in New York, alongside the UN General Assembly.

The Ai-AUC High-Level Leadership Dialogue on Women’s Empowerment and Entrepreneurship is jointly organised by Africa investor and the AUC. The panel will foster a dialogue between business and government leaders on the eve of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit and will engage panelists on their vision for the implementation of Agenda 2063.

Panelists will also discuss their commitment to economic development through the support of women’s empowerment through private sector engagement and entrepreneurship development in Africa.

The core aim of the Dialogue will be to address the role and partnerships that the AUC would like to advance with the business and investment community in Africa. In addition, the AUC will call for commitments from banks and financial institutions to pursue the “30% loan portfolio agenda for women”. The Dialogue will be co-chaired by the AUC Chairperson, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and CEO and Vice Chairman of Africa investor, Hubert Danso.

Commenting on the Summit, Danso said, “The Ai-AUC High-Level Leadership Dialogue on Women’s Empowerment and Entrepreneurship represents a unique opportunity, on the eve of the UN Summit on the SDGs, to alert global investors and African business leaders to the need to act and drive economic growth through women’s empowerment in support of Agenda 2063.

This is an agenda that must not be ignored and we are pleased to be able to host this Dialogue in partnership with the AUC.” The Ai CEO Investment Summit, and the Ai-AUC High-Level Leadership Dialogue on Women’s Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, will take place during the Ai CEO Investment Summit on the 24th of September at the Thomson Reuters offices at 195 Broadway, New York.

The annual Ai CEO Investment Summit is an invitation-only CEO business and government forum, designed to facilitate action, to highlight and enhance Africa's investment climate, trade competitiveness and job creation, as well as shed light on Africa’s investment success stories.The Summit will comprise a number of CEO-led panels that will showcase high-growth opportunity sectors and will include feedback from public and private sector leaders working on these issues. Attendees and speakers will include high-level international and domestic leaders from business and government with Africa’s private sector development as high priority.
