South Africa: Airspace, Maritime and Land Borders Receive Attention

While the implementation of the Border Management Agency promises to solve some of the many challenges involved in managing South Africa's borders and ports of entry, Members of Parliament in the Peace and Security Cluster delegation that visited KwaZulu-Natal this week asked that some of the issues be addressed immediately.

Gaps in radar coverage of South African airspace, effective policing of airfields and airstrips, as well as a lack of information sharing between the Air Traffic and Navigation Service (ATNS) and the air force were some of the challenges the Peace and Security Cluster said must be addressed to secure South African airspace.
