Liberia: War Crime Court Swept Under Carpet

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has again renewed her stance by distancing herself from the establishment of an extraordinary Criminal Court in Liberia as recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

When the recommendations were first released by the Commission in June 2009, it listed several officials of the government-in the Legislature, Judiciary and Executive-to be barred from political officers, face a court for economic sabotage and, among others, to face a special tribunal (war crimes court).
