Ghana: Gov't Adjusts Cocoa Prices Upward

The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) has released new prices for the 2015/16 cocoa season, as a bag of cocoa goes for GH¢425 and a tonne for GH¢6,720.

The figure represents an increase of 21.7% (GH¢1,200), as against the previous year's producer price of GH¢5,520 per metric tonne. Opening the new cocoa season in Accra last Friday, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, explained that the actual price for the 64kg gross weight was GH¢420, plus a bonus of GH¢5 - summing it up to GH¢425.
