Congo-Kinshasa: Ban Appoints New Head of UN Mission in DR Congo

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Maman S. Sidikou of Niger as his new Special Representative for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Head of the UN Mission in the country, known as MONUSCO.

"Mr. Sidikou brings vast experience to his new position, with more than 25 years in his country's domestic and foreign services, the United Nations, as well as a senior African Union official," UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said at today's regular press briefing at UN Headquarters.
