Uganda: Rwanda 'Too Small' for All Its Citizens

In our continuing series marking 25 years since Ugandan soldiers of Rwandan descent invaded Rwanda, former New Vision journalist SHEILA KAWAMARA MISHAMBI recalls the trauma of covering the war.

We crossed the Uganda border with Rwanda at Gatuna on April 10, 1994, oblivious of the magnitude of the atrocities that were occurring inside Rwanda and what awaited us. We spent a few hours at the border as the RPF security verified our identities and cross-checked with their superiors in Mulindi.
