Liberia: 24-Hrs Service At Buchanan Port

Flanked by managers and heads of departments at a news conference held at the Freeport of Monrovia, Acting Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Mr. David Forkpa Williams, says the port authority has made significant achievements in its operations, pointing to 24 hours service weekly at the Port of Buchanan which he noted is in line with vision of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in strengthening Liberia's economy.

Speaking Tuesday at a news conference at the Free Port of Monrovia, the Acting Managing Director Williams noted that the new move by the authorities of the NPA and Arcelor Mittal is a key achievement at the Buchanan Port that would boost government's desire to speedily improve government revenue generation and strengthen Liberia's economic capacity at an appreciable level.
This achievement, he pointed out, would stimulate several economic initiatives and employment opportunities at the Port of Buchanan with the institution's modern international standard capacity.
The NPA Acting boss said his administration has announced a decision of three years of collaborative efforts with the administration of Arcelor Mittal to test and install an appropriate navigation facility for night time operations to extend the operational hours at the Port of Buchanan in Grand Bassa County.
The Port of Buchanan is Liberia's second largest seaport and one of the frequently used facilities of the NPA that promotes economic activities in the country.
