Tanzania: 800 to Be Reached in Effort to End Cruelty On Women

Dar es Salaam — Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) will reach about 800 people in its efforts to raise awareness on various forms of anti-social behaviours, being part of the activities to mark 16 days of activism (Nov. 25 to Dec 10) against geneder-based violence (GBV).

According to a statement signed by TGNP executive director Lillian Liundi, the campaign will focus on eradicating violence towards children. Ms Liundi says the campaign will remind the public to be vocal whenever they suspect or see incidents that violate children's rights. "The main focus of this year's campaign is to make sure children's rights are protected. This is because statistics show that violence against children has many implications including tampering with their education and reducing their self-esteem," she says.
