Shinichi Kitaoka (PhD), professor emeritus at Tokyo University, has been appointed as president of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) since October.
Following his appointment by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the new president of JICA, Kitaoka visited Ethiopia with the objective of promoting the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), which will be held in Africa for the first time since 1993.
