Mauritius: Government Announces Reduction in Selling Prices of Live Goat and Sheep

From 7 December 2015 to 20 January 2016, consumers will pay Rs 185 and Rs 200 per kilo for live goat and sheep respectively, compared to Rs 300 per kilo for the same period last year, and to Rs 300 per pound, which is the prevailing price in the local markets

The announcement was made this morning at a joint press conference by the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Lands, Mr Showkutally Soodhun, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection, Mr Ashit Kumar Gungah. "This measure will give relief to consumers and allow them to enjoy low prices ahead of the festive season," stated Mr Soodhun.
